Project Journal 23/08/10 – Rule of Thirds

So after we finish with the formalities of getting to know new faces we started with a gentle look through some interesting and thought provoking photography books. We had the glossy and glamourous Vanity Fair Portraits Book, the gritty and provocative Nadav Kander’s Beauty is Nothing. and the raw and unedited American Surfaces by Stephen Shore.

Three completely different takes on photography to get our creative juices flowing. Then straight into camera skills and techniques. We start with the “Rule of Thirds” .

We took a little stroll just around the neighbourhood to put the rule into practice. Everyone took a number of photos but was asked to select one they felt fitted the brief/obeyed the rule the most. The results will posted above with comments from the budding snapper that took it, feel free to leave comments as well.
